Family Priase Party and Training

Family Praise Party

What was it?

It was about families having fun and praising God together.

A fast moving mixture of whacky action songs, funky dance tracks, tricks, illusions, hilarious puppets, praise and worship. There was loads of audience participation, with fun and laughter.

Over 200 people turned up to enjoy 1 1/2 hours of funky praise and worship.

Who was running it?

The Praise Party was led by Doug Horley (Duggie Dug Dug) and his team of helpers. The event was organised primarily by a team from the following Canterbury churches:-

with the support of other churches such as Barton Evangelical Church, City Church, and New Life Pentecostal Church.

And a big thank you to Churches Together in Canterbury and Canterbury Deanery for providing much of the funding.

About 50 children's leaders from 14 different churches met together in the afternoon for a training workshop led by Doug Horley. This included:

  1. Worship for 21st century kids. Packed full of practical ideas - expect to get funky and enjoy yourself!
  2. What in the world is God doing with kids - look at some of the amazing things going on around the world.

Why?

Bishop Gavin Reid, in his book 'From Canterbury with love' states:

The first responsibility of any generation of Christians is to help the next discover the Gospel. I am convinced that passing on the faith to children is the most fundamental ministry of all.

To do this we need to put energies into imaginative children's outreach and also help our members who have children at home to be able to explain their faith and build Christian homes.

This event did just that! By pooling skills, gifts, resources, finance and support we will be so much more effective in our work.
