Historic Churches Sponsored Bike Ride and Walk

Various groups from Sturry took part in this, some walking, some using trains plus walking and others on foot. The group that took the train to Margate 'clocked up' 8 churches. The cyclists had an eventful time with one puncture and one pile-up on an off-road section of cycle track, but still managed 5 churches.

Easter Monday Pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral - 24th Match 2008

Sturry Church was one of 3 start points for organised walks into Canterbury Cathedral, with the pilgrims leaving Sturry at 10:30am accompanied by Bishop Stephen. But this was not the start of the walk for everyone. Three girls arrived on foot from Ramsgate having set off very early in the morning, so Sturry was a welcome refreshment break towards the end of their journey. Many groups arrived from Margate and Ramsgate by train, bus and car, as well as other more local pilgrims from the Sturry area. More photos on Easter Monday Pilgrimage
